On the 12th of March 2018 ISO 45001:2018 replaced OHSAS 18001:2007. The standard sets requirements for compliant to occupational health and safety management systems. For personnel to implement, manage and evaluate an Occupational Health and Safety Management System effectively, they require an understanding of legal issues pertaining to OHSAS. The employer has both a legal and moral duty to ensure that employees, the community and third parties are safeguarded as far as is reasonably practicable against occupational hazards and risk. This training course is tailored for Internal OHS auditors.

Course objective

This training course is for auditors or potential auditors who require to understand the principles and practices of auditing their organizations safety management system and/or their suppliers in line with requirements. Information is also presented about certification audits as detailed in ISO 17021.

Course outcome

This training course provides delegates with the knowledge to audit Safety Management Systems based on the ISO 45001:2018 requirements. To ensure compliance to the standard requirements. And highlight the importance of legislative compliance. The above is achieved by presentations by qualified and experienced facilitators and group discussions/workshops.

Who should attend?

Safety managers, safety management representatives, safety officers/administrators who wish to become ISO 45001:2018 certified auditors. This programme is the second level of three for becoming an auditor through the South African Auditor & Training Certification Authority (SAATCA). It is essential that learners also attend ISO 45001 Understanding and ISO 45001 Lead Auditor courses, in order to be certified.
